Habitat for Humanity Blitz Build 2008

Believe it or not it’s almost here. This year we are helping Habitat for Humanity build one of four houses. We have pledged $5,500 towards the $80,000 it costs to build a decent affordable home for a family who is now living in sub-standard housing. How can you help? Please give what you can during the month of April to help us reach our goal. And sign up to help make this home a reality.

The Blitz starts with a prayer vigil on Thursday June 12. The actual build starts on Friday, June 13 and concludes on Saturday June 28 with a dedication. The website will be up and running on April 1st and to make it even easier, there will be computers available at St. Stephens the weekends of April 12 and 13 and April 19 and 20 after all services. We urge you to get involved with this awesome outreach opportunity. You don’t need to know how to do construction work; there are plenty of tasks for all skill levels. You can volunteer to work one day or several days, the choice is yours. Don’t wait to sign up; the slots fill quickly, and signup will be available to the public on May 15. This year 16 and 17 year olds will be permitted to work on a limited basis under supervision.

Vacation Bible School

Dates: Sun, June 22-Wed, June 25.
Dinner: 5:30-6:00PM
Vacation Bible School: 6:00-8:15PM
Cost: $15 (scholarships available)
This year, we are going to have a Beach Party, where we plan on surfin' through the Scriptures. Each evening, we will begin with dinner from 5:30- 6PM, prepared with love by members of our church. Then, at 6PM, we surf into the sanctuary to start our crazy and wild Beach Party. Each evening, we will learn a new Beach Be-Attitude, and learn how God loves to teach us better ways to live. There will be lots of music, storytelling, a science lab, crafts, games and recreation, and visits from Flame' the Flamingo. While the kids are having a blast, the adults will be engaging in deep and fun Bible studies on the Scriptures. We wrap at 8PM with a closing time, dismiss the kids at 8:15PM. On our last evening, Wed, June 25, the kids will invite you and everyone they know for their BIG SHOW at 8PM, when they will share everything they learned during our time together. Then, everyone is invited to back to the Fellowship Hall for Ice Cream Sundaes! You won’t want to miss a single moment!

BIBLE STUDY
WHAT: The readings for the upcoming Sunday
WHEN: Every Wednesday from 10AM-11:15PM
WHERE: The youth room
WHO: You, Pastor Manisha and God
WHY: because it is cool to have thought about the readings before Sunday, and because you can ask the question everyone else is asking, namely, “What does this mean?”
