St. Stephen's Hospitality Ministry
And taking the five loaves and the two fish, he looked up to heaven and said a blessing over them. Then he broke the loaves and gave them to the disciples to set before the crowd.

Mission: The Hospitality Committee strives to make our Church a welcoming and sustaining place by offering opportunities for fellowship, entertainment, and fun.  This committee is especially receptive to new ideas and interests; we offer members many opportunities for involvement and leave them free to participate as they like.
Accomplishments in 2011:
  • Annual Meeting: Hospitality provided lunch and refreshments.
  • Twelfth Night Dinner: Stephen Fragnoli and family, with assistance from Mike Wellman, Eric Hatchett and the entire Committee, prepared dinner for the evening. Special thanks to Pastor Manisha and the Rite 13 and J2A members who served the meal and handled the clean-up detail.
  • Irish Night Potluck Dinner: This potluck has become a St. Stephen’s favorite. Entertainment was provided by Dave Stein’s Celtic Knot Irish Band.
  • Annual Church Picnic and Family Fun Day: Special thanks to all for planning/participating in the activities for this fun-filled event.
  • Special Fellowship Hours: Hospitality hosted “Advent Cantata” Fellowship Hour as well as the “Farewell Fr. Jonathan” Fellowship Hour. Special thanks to Elaine Church for sending reminder letters with instructions to the weekly hosts for Fellowship Hour. Many thanks to all those who hosted Fellowship Hour throughout the past year – everyone appreciates this.
  • Welcome Back Breakfast: Enjoying the breakfast buffet provided a wonderful way for parishioners to “return” to church after summer vacations, with much appreciation to all who provided baked goods and helped with set-up / clean-up.
  • GEM (Greet, Eat, and Meet): Thank you to Jill Stein for her dedicated service in organizing this popular activity. The groups meet periodically in members’ homes throughout the year to share a potluck meal and fellowship.

Goals for 2012:
  • Continue to add new social events and evaluate their success for further improvement.
  • Continue to enhance our traditional events.
  • Continue documenting events and procedures to ensure continuity from year to year as Hospitality leadership and membership changes.
  • Welcome new members to the committee
Please take on opportunity to host Fellowship Hour one Sunday – it truly becomes a rewarding task for you as you provide hospitality for your fellow parishioners and visitors to St. Stephen's. You may host Fellowship Hour on your own, or reach out to someone near you and ask them to share in this activity – this ministry – by hosting with you. While the time after the10:00 service is more about fellowship than coffee/tea, without the coffee and tea Fellowship Hour just is not the same! While our clergy provide nourishment for our minds and the Spirit provides for our souls, we still need a bit of nourishment for our bodies.

Being the host for Fellowship Hour simply requires you to arrive about 9:20, prepare the coffee, put whatever tidbits of food you would like to share on platters, return to the kitchen after communion to make the tea and pour the beverages, and then greet your fellow parishioners as they come through the line. Piece of cake!!! As I write this, I am pleased to see new names. I am also struck once more by the number of people who have so generously hosted Fellowship Hour several times during the year. We most especially thank you. On the other hand, if you have not yet used this opportunity to greet your fellow parishioners with a cup of coffee/tea, won't you do so in the next few months? If you aren't certain what to do, I am very happy to show you around the kitchen. Instructions are posted in the kitchen (conveniently by the coffee pots). Also, the Winter Instructions (requires larger quantity of coffee/tea), Summer Instructions and Iced Tea Instructions are linked here for your convenience. Please also know there are usually cookies and so forth left from a previous Sunday. So if you are not able to bring snacks yourself, it is certainly okay to use what is there.
