Crossroads of Michigan

St. Stephen's Parish supports the work of Crossroads through annual donations from the Outreach budget.  Crossroads is a social service organization operating from the Episcopal Cathedral Church of St. Paul, Detroit.  Crossroads exists to give support to any member of the community at large, regardless of race or creed or any of the other classifications which divide our society.

Crossroads offers assistance to people struggling to survive in the face of such difficulties as hunger, alcoholism, unemployment, drug abuse, and mental illness. It serves clients in four major areas:
  1. it offers support to assist clients to come to terms with their problems and discover solutions at the most basic level possible;
  2. in some cases, a counselor may make referrals to other service organizations which are specifically geared to the needs of particular clients;
  3. in other instances, Crossroads serves an advocacy function;
  4. in addition to other services, Crossroads is able to provide material aid such as food, loans and grants, transportation, prescriptions and clothing.
Each Sunday afternoon, Crossroads serves a hot meal to all who come. The Soup Kitchen is hosted by teams from parishes and service organizations throughout the metro Detroit area.
