Food Bank of Oakland County

The Food Bank of Oakland County is celebrating its 20th Anniversary this year.  Its mission is to "Assist in the alleviation of hunger in Oakland County by educating the community and securing, storing, and distributing food and household products through a network of member volunteer emergency food providers. "

Each year, St. Stephen's utilizes the Food Bank to purchase supplies and staples for the South Oakland Shelter (SOS) Outreach week.  These items help us provide nourishing breakfasts, dinners and sack lunches to our SOS guests.  In turn, St. Stephen's donates funds to the Food Bank from the annual Outreach budget.
Volunteers are always welcome at the Food Bank. Each year approximately 3000 volunteers assist the food bank staff in a variety of ways.  Below are just a few of the opportunities available. Please sign up through the Food Bank's website (http://www.fboc.org) if you are interested.
