Help Against Violent Encounters Now, the slogan used by this organization describes the way in which they operate: "Building Violence-Free Communities One Family At A Time." Their aim is to eliminate root causes of abuse. They provide direct services to victims and families experiencing domestic violence, sexual assault and child abuse. Working toward eliminating such violence, HAVEN offers preventive and educational services to their clients. A 24-Hour Crisis and Support Line is available as well as counseling treatment for the benefit of the entire family.
HAVEN is available every day, 24 hours a day to:

• Come to the aid of families that experience the horrors of terrorism in their own homes
• Help innocent children who are abused, often times by those who are supposed to love and protect them
• Assist the victims of these crimes find the strength to once again feel safe, sheltered, comforted and supported by their community

Each year a portion of the St. Stephen's Outreach budget is donated to this organization. Also, the proceeds from Larry and Lynn Nunn's annual travel slideshow presentation are donated to the HAVEN.  Our donations help to:

• Provide cab fares allowing families to escape the violence at home
• Supervised visits between a child and parent who are restricted to weekly contact
• Purchase puppets for children to use in telling their stories
• Give sweat suits to maintain the dignity of sexual assault victims who must give their clothes to the police as evidence
• Provide counseling and safety planning sessions
• Support the 24-hour crisis call-in center which provides a lifeline to people needing immediate intervention
• Shelter women and children
• Provide therapeutic videos for the batterers
