Macomb County Jail Ministry

The Macomb County Jail Ministry (http://www.macomb-sheriff.com/Pages/jail/jail_ministry.htm) is an all volunteer organization representing various faith communities within Macomb County and the Metropolitan area. It provides ecumenical ministry to 1445 inmates through worship, Bible study and counseling

The incarcerated of this institution are provided with:

•  Worship Services
•  Bible Study Classes
•  Religious Films and Filmstrips
•  Tapes of Religious Songs
•  Religious Literature Distribution
•  Bible Correspondence Courses
•  Counseling for Inmates
•  Assistance to Pastors in their visitation and ministry to inmates.

St. Stephen's sexton, Miranda Spates, has volunteered her time to this ministry for many years.  In past years, she developed a special connection with an inmate and raffled his marvelous toothpick creations (pianos, boxes, etc). 

Miranda collects magazines to recycle to the prison inmates. So, please bring your gently used reading materials (with address labels removed) to the church office.

Additionally, each year, a portion of the Outreach budget is donated to the Macomb County Jail Ministry.  If you are interested in joining the Jail Ministry please contact Miranda Spates or the Outreach Chairperson.
