Bala Mandir Orphanage - Madras India
The members of St. Stephen’s have sponsored foster children at the Bala Mandir orphanage in Madras, India for over over 25 years, and thanks to the generosity of quite a few families we are currently fostering ten children. This foreign Outreach project is funded by the individual contributions above and beyond the pledge monies allocated for Outreach. Each sponsorship of $150.00 (enough to feed, clothe, and educate a child for an entire year) is funded by
one to three families who should then receive photos and biographies of their child once a year. Bala Mandir takes in children who have been orphaned or abandoned by parents unable to care for them. The school educates the children in a trade or vocation that will help them earn a living when they reach adulthood.

Sell your possessions, and give to the needy. Provide yourselves with moneybags that do not grow old, with a treasure in the heavens that does not fail, where no thief approaches and no moth destroys.

Bead for Life - Uganda
Bead for Life creates sustainable opportunities for women to lift their families out of extreme poverty by connecting people worldwide in a circle of exchange that enriches everyone. On their website are fascinating stories about the inspiring members who work in Uganda. Bead for Life members are impoverished, hardworking and intelligent women with a strong desire to improve their lives. The beautiful handcrafted paper beads are created from recycled paper and then turned into necklaces, bracelets and earrings. This mission is very special to Deacon Liz.
United Thank Offering - Episcopal Church
United Thank Offering (UTO) is a ministry of the Episcopal Church for the mission of the whole church. Through United Thank Offering, men, women and children nurture the habit of giving daily thanks to God. These prayers of thanksgiving start when we recognize and name our many daily blessings. Those who participate in UTO discover that thankfulness leads to generosity. United Thank Offering is entrusted to promote thank offerings, to receive the offerings, and to distribute the UTO monies to support mission and ministry throughout the Episcopal Church and in invited Provinces of the Anglican Communion in the developing world.
St. Stephen's has special collections for UTO twice yearly.
CROP Walk - Church World Service
CROP Hunger Walks help to provide food and water, as well as resources that empower people to meet their own needs. From seeds and tools, to wells and water systems, to technical training and micro-enterprise loans, the key is people working together to identify their own development priorities, their strengths and their needs – something CWS has learned through some 64 years of working in partnership around the world.
Each Spring, St. Stephen's youth join with other churches in the Troy area and walk for CROP.
MS Walk - National Multiple Sclerosis Society
Walk MS is a rallying point, a time and a place to stand together and to be together — to help raise critical funds that support cutting edge research, drive change through advocacy, facilitate professional education and provide programs and services to help people with MS move their lives forward.
St. Stephen's has joined the Walk MS movement for the past several years.
