Local Outreach donations from St. Stephen's and the Outreach budget prayerfully support area service groups and ministries through gifts of time, talent and treasure of the St. Stephen’s parish. Additionally $1000 of the Outreach budget is dedicated for mini-grants wherein parishioners can apply for a $100 grant to be donated to a personal favorite charity. Local Outreach projects provide opportunities for active participation and fellowship in a variety of local organizations.
In addition, St. Stephen's and its members support many Other Global Outreach projects through the contribution of money and time. Parishioners knit prayer shawls for persons in need and premie hats and blankets donated to area hospitals. If you are interested in participating, please contact Deacon Liz for patterns and to join a knitting evening.
We also collect tab tops, eyeglasses, cancelled stamps, cell phones, Campbell's soup labels and education box tops for various charities and organizations. The baskets for these collections can be found in the hallway leading from the gathering area to the church school wing.

Mission: Our goal is to prayerfully support local area service groups and ministries through gifts of time, talent and treasure of the St. Stephen’s parish. Outreach’s purpose is to help the people of God fulfill what is required of them and be “PICKY” as follows
a. Prayer partners for various ministries (our job in the ministry is to pray!!)
b. Instigators of various ministries (Being the sand that produces a pearl)
c. Communicators of the Good News (articles, announcements and so on)
d. Keepers of the Story of What Happened!
e. Yellers of Justice (remind us why it is good for us to care for others)
Accomplishments in 2010:
- The Committee was provided a budget of $12,000. $10,000 of this was donated in $1,000 grant amounts monthly as follows: Baldwin Center, Gleaners Food Bank, Catholic Community Response Team (CCRT), Haven, Lutheran Social Services, Habitat for Humanity, Mariners Inn, South Oakland Shelter (SOS), Bound Together and Troy People Concerned. Another $1,000 was dedicated to Mini-Grants which were requested by parishioners. Approximately, $1,000 was dedicated for SOS week.
- The big event for Outreach every year is SOS, which was a week in September and co-chaired by Joan Morgan and John Morley. It was a big success. Not only did many parishioners participate, but surveys by our guests indicated they had a good stay with us.
- Other activities and support included: food donations to Lighthouse of Oakland County, Entertainment Book sale for Baldwin, Beads for Life, Bali Mandir, blood drives, CROP walk, MS Walk for the Cure, Leaf raking of four Troy homes for Troy People Concerned in November; 140 Thanksgiving bags were delivered to All Saints in Pontiac, Christmas Walk for Habitat, and the Giving Tree provided presents for Bound Together, Baldwin Center and CCRT-Pontiac.
- Kroger Community Awards Card Programs was initiated. A percentage of what parishioners spend at those stores will be donated to Outreach
